There may be times when care expectations are unmet. Learn about common home care challenges that might be encountered and the various tools and strategies for dealing with them.

What is the problem or challenge?

While receiving home care services a missed visit may occur. This can cause stress for caregivers and individuals receiving care.

Why does this problem exist?

Although missed care visits are not common within the ICC program because of the close relationship between ICC Coordinators and home care providers, missed visits can occur due to illness, weather, or transportation.

What can I do about this problem?

Missed visits are often unpredictable and out of caregivers’ control. This can be frustrating and lead to feelings of powerlessness. However, there are things that can be done to ensure the issue is known, and prepare for future missed visits.

Inform your ICC coordinator

ICC prioritizes communication with their patients. The ICC team will communicate if there are changes to visit schedules. However, if a missed visit occurs and you have not been contacted, inform your ICC Coordinator. They will help to reschedule your care visit.
