What to know about dizziness
People living with chronic disease are more likely to feel dizzy or lightheaded as a symptom of their disease or due to medication side effects.
This can increase the risk of falls and impact daily activities.
What to do when feeling dizzy
- Sit down until the feeling stops
- When sitting or standing, move slowly to avoid falls

How to prevent dizziness and light-headedness
- Ensure medication is taken correctly, and speak to a pharmacist, nurse, or doctor about side effects
- Stay active and exercise daily
- Instead of eating a few large meals, eat several small meals during the day
- Stay hydrated
- Rest after eating
- Sleep with head on a pillow(s)
- Avoid very hot places (e.g., hot tubs, hot showers, or baths)
- Make sure the home has proper lighting to avoid falls
- Wear proper fitting footwear
- Have mobility aids (walker, cane, etc.) nearby when standing up
